I’m back with another look at the gastro horror offerings! There aren’t as many as last month, but if you’re looking for more to watch, you can always visit my gastro horror guide or Letterboxd! All that said, let’s get into the gastro horror titles coming to streaming in June 2025!
June 1st
- Hannibal Rising– The story of the early, murderous roots of the cannibalistic killer, Hannibal Lecter – from his hard-scrabble Lithuanian childhood, where he witnesses the repulsive lengths to which hungry soldiers will go to satiate themselves, through his sojourn in France, where as a medical student he hones his appetite for the kill. (Tubi)
- Leatherface– A young nurse is kidnapped by a group of violent teens who escape from a mental hospital and take her on the road trip from hell. Pursued by an equally deranged lawman out for revenge, one of the teens is destined for tragedy and horrors that will destroy his mind, moulding him into a monster named Leatherface. (Tubi)
- Shaun of the Dead– Shaun lives a supremely uneventful life, which revolves around his girlfriend, his mother, and, above all, his local pub. This gentle routine is threatened when the dead return to life and make strenuous attempts to snack on ordinary Londoners. (Peacock) Editor’s Note: Technically, zombies do not fall into the purview of gastro horror, but a large part of this movie takes place in a pub, and there is a minor scene in a convenience store.
- Texas Chainsaw 3D– A young woman learns that she has inherited a Texas estate from her deceased grandmother. After embarking on a road trip with friends to uncover her roots, she finds she is the sole owner of a lavish, isolated Victorian mansion. But her newfound wealth comes at a price as she stumbles upon a horror that awaits her in the mansion’s dank cellars. (Tubi)
June 9th
- The Grapes of Death– A young woman discovers that the pesticide being sprayed on vineyards is turning people into killer zombies. (Shudder)
June 20th
- Mondo Cane– A documentary consisting of a series of travelogue vignettes providing glimpses into cultural practices throughout the world, intended to shock or surprise, including an insect banquet and a memorable look at a practicing South Pacific cargo cult. (Screambox) Editor’s note: Due to its age and topic matter, some of the content is of its age in ways similar to films like Cannibal Holocaust.
That about does it for what’s coming to streaming in June 2025. Which of these have you seen? Did I miss your film’s release? Is there an upcoming gastro horror title you’re looking forward to? Let me know in the comments below!
