It’s June, y’all! This means just like everyone else, it’s time for me to share the horror releases I’m most looking forward to for the remainder of this year! I’m actually pretty excited to do this because a gastro horror movie just got announced for this fall, and I can’t wait! So let’s get started!
-
- Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence– This is the gastro horror title I mentioned being excited about. In fact, it’s so new, it’s not even on Letterboxd, nor is there an official synopsis. What we do know is that, according to Thomas Zambeck, CEO of Anchor Bay is that they’re “proud to be bringing back a franchise with this much cultural DNA. Organic Intelligence is fresh, funny, weird, and self-aware — just the kind of beautifully chaotic project that fits our mission. Killer Tomatoes are ripe for reinvention.” You can read more about it in Deadline’s announcement of the film. Release Date: Fall 2025
- Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein– Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant but egotistical scientist, brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation. Whether or not it ends up being a “horror” film in the traditional sense of the word, I’m dying to see GDT’s take. I think he will do the story justice in ways others have not, due to his experience with understanding and creating sympathetic monsters. Release Date: November 2025
- The Conjuring: Last Rites– Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren take on one last terrifying case involving mysterious entities they must confront. I am a sucker for the Conjureverse films. I love them all! While real-life Ed and Lorraine are dubious at best, Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson’s portrayal is couples goals. I really hope they tie Taissa Farmiga’s Sister Irene to Lorraine and wrap the franchise up nicely. Release Date: September 5th, 2025
- Hell House LLC: Lineage– Vanessa Shepard is haunted by visions and nightmares in the town of Abaddon. As mysterious deaths occur around her, she uncovers connections to the Abaddon Hotel and the Carmichael Manor, delving into decades of unexplained murders. I’ve really enjoyed just about all of the entries in the Hell House LLC franchise, and I can’t imagine I’ll feel much different about this one. Release Date: Limited Theatrical August 20, 2025
- Predator: Badlands– Cast out from its clan, an alien hunter and an unlikely ally embark on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary. I’m a sucker for a Predator movie. I may not love them all, but I will see every single one of them. Release Date: November 7th, 2025
- Predator: Killer of Killers– This anthology story follows three of the fiercest warriors in human history: a Viking raider guiding her young son on a bloody quest for revenge; a ninja in feudal Japan who turns against his Samurai brother in a brutal battle for succession; and a WWII pilot who takes to the sky to investigate an otherworldly threat to the Allied cause. But while all these warriors are killers in their own right, they are merely prey for their new opponent — the ultimate killer of killers. Didn’t I literally just tell you I’d watch any Predator film that came out? Release Date: Today (June 6th, 2025)
- The Long Walk– A group of teenage boys compete in an annual contest known as “The Long Walk,” where they must maintain a certain walking speed or get shot. Generally, I enjoy Stephen King’s earlier works, so I’m interested in seeing how this plays out. Also, not going to lie, I am giggling like mad over the folks saying it ripped off The Hunger Games. It’s also worth noting that I’ll be deep into marathon training at that point so seeing any sort of physical activity in horror might be somewhat cathartic. Release Date: September 12th, 2025
There are several other films I’m also looking forward to, like 28 Years Later and I Know What You Did Last Summer, that just didn’t make the cut. What movies are you looking forward to? Should I do a list like this for non-horror films? Let me know in the comments below!
