Femme Filth Fest and Bloodletter Magazine have joined forces to present Taboo Film Night, a one-night showcase and party celebrating the freshest, most exciting new voices in feminist horror. The selection of films by women, trans, and nonbinary filmmakers that reject what’s socially acceptable. While it is an in-person only event, I wanted to do my due diligence in uplifting these voices, especially because there will be some gastro horror being shown!
Among the offerings are the following gastro horror shorts:
- Micro-Short– (dir. Beth Fletcher) A woman hypnotized by her microwave finds out how far she’ll go to satiate its hunger.
- Belly Belly– (dir. Gabriel Carnick) As two body-obsessed queer femmes begin to relax the brutal control they exert over their urges, romantic appetites are derailed by deeper cravings.
- A Fermenting Woman– (dir. Priscilla Galvez) On the brink of getting fired from her restaurant by new owners, visionary chef and master fermenter Marielle Lau (Sook-Yin Lee) develops an incendiary new dish with a bewitching ingredient she’s convinced will save her career.
- Consume– (dir. Aliyah Knight) After giving in to temptation, a young woman attempts to conceal her sins from her family.
- Ashley Bones: The Bimbo Cannibal– (dir. Julia Rome, Liv Barnett) Ashley Justine Bones is just your regular, pink-loving, bimbo-core girly girl, with a questionable hunger for men.
Taboo Film Night will be held on Friday May 23rd. The event runs from 6:30 pm to 10 pm at The Lee Strasberg Film & Television Institute’s Marilyn Monroe Theatre in West Hollywood. There will be a cash bar courtesy of El Cristiano Tequila. Tickets and details can be found on their Eventive site.
