It’s been a minute since I’ve posted here but I’m back just in time for Women in Horror Month! For those of you unfamiliar, “Women in Horror Month (WiHM) is an international, grassroots initiative, which encourages supporters to learn about and showcase the underrepresented work of women in the horror industries. Whether they are on the screen, behind the scenes, or contributing in their other various artistic ways, it is clear that women love, appreciate, and contribute to the horror genre.”
I decided it would be fun to curate a list of horror movies that are directed by women. Here is the catch though, they needed to be movies I hadn’t seen. It took a small village to help me come up with movies that I hadn’t seen. So shout outs go to Monte Yazzie, the programming director of the International Horror and Sci-Fi Film Festival, Danni Winn, the Community Relations Director of Morbidly Beautiful, Ryan Larson, Editor in Chief of Ghastly Grinning, and Shelly Grant, co-host of the BS Movies Podcast. Also, shout outs to Film Bar Phoenix and Alamo Drafthouse Tempe for hosting WiHM events!
Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s get to our list! I’ll be listing the movies, as well as what streaming service I’ll be using to watch them. Here we go!
